40 or so years ago, you could walk into the local drugstore and buy Robotussin AC off the shelf. the AC stood for Codeine...no prescription necessary. LOTS of kids were getting fucked up on this stuff. I never could stand the taste enough to take a couple of spoonsful, let alone drink a bottle or two. Once I found out I was allergic to codeine, it eliminated any temptation for the stuff anyway. My doctor gave me a heavy codeine cough syrup when I was about 12-13...the allergic reaction almost killed me. Turns out, I'm one of the less than 1% of people who is also allergic to Hydrocodone. (vicodan) I can take Percodan, (oxycodone) but not hydrocodone. I have numerous bottles of the stuff in my "drug box" from my knee surgery...that I couldn't take...hey...where's zanejohnson when I need him?
