Odds of Biden stepping down

Soooooo, what's next for Joe? Sure he's still POTUS, and a very very lame duck one at that. With his ego in shatters, his dream of beating Trump one more time turned into a gut wrenching embarrassment, it seems this is his supreme moment of resurrecting himself into acquiring a new purpose by dusting himself off and making his ~ 6 months of tenure really mean something, knowing it's the end of the line. Sad he had to go down like this yet the legacy he's leaving behind is an honorable one, totally unlike his former opponent.

So turning to Kamala. Will she accept Biden's and the party's advice while pursuing her own legacy building agenda pre-election, or will she sail off into a more self-interested course and take on the attitude that she knows what's best for her path to victory over Trump and become a rogue warrior of sorts?

I've seen this happen in our local political scene where once nominated/elected, the candidate/office holder will turn their back on the party's power brokers, get overconfident and cocky and then get unceremoniously booted out after a single term by being branded persona non grata from the party's elder statesmen.
I was rather taken aback by the joyous performance Harris put on welcoming her assent to party head while Biden's heart was still beating on the sacrificial alter.

Maybe all that Democrats should talk about is how old and senile Trump is. It looks like a giant killer.

I like what I'm seeing so far.

Determination and unity from the Dems, money flowing like a river.

Magats don't seem too impressed with the fake hillbilly for VP. Many seem to be slowly realizing how old and senile Traitor Trump the Twice Impeached Insurrectionist looks compared to the calm, cool and collected prosecutor that made Bob Barr 'struggle.'

I think some of them are starting to get it.

A leader of a conservative Southern Baptist Christian group complimented Biden on resigning. They fired him for it but reneged 48 hours later. These people are so flustered.

In under 48 hours, the head of the staunchly conservative public-policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention rankled fellow Baptists by applauding President Joe Biden’s “selfless act” of withdrawing his candidacy for re-election. Then, his agency reported he was fired — and now they have reaffirmed his leadership.

I don't want to handwave the border as a non-issue. It certainly is. But I think it's far more noise than signal. It's bait.

I live 1100 miles from the Mexican border and the MAGAT's trying to primary in WA-3 against Glutenkamp Perez are trying to outfroth each other over the border. And dragging her in it.

I'm sorry but if someone living in Washington state's biggest problem is border security.... Either you have nothing else to complain about or you're just not even trying to solve anything.

But those Canadians! Build the wall! They're not sending their best!

And actually, Canada might even pay for it, if it would keep those Americans out...

Imagine running those organizations and not already doing all that regardless of who the D candidate is.
I mean like I've said you can't count on people being rational and logical creatures. Even if they do want the same things we do. The fact is we gave them a candidate who was the opposite of inspirational. Also unliked. And a lot of people need inspiration, especially during dark times such as these. And while every demographic could use inspiration, there's definitely a lot of that needed in the younger generations.

Well we gave it to them and now they're amped up.

He will literally do the opposite. He is a sexist piece of shit far right fascist, he will drive away women voters at the very least, who are more moderate.
I very much doubt there is any woman on the planet that thought 'You know, I would have voted for Trump, but that Vance is just too extreme for a VP.'

So, you’re just south of me a ways. I’m in Grays Harbor county. Having lived in eastern and central WA, I can agree that illegal immigration is an issue here…but maybe not the biggest issue we face.

There are definitely Independents and women included in that group, who may have thought of voting for Trump if he picked a moderate VP, such as say Nikki Haley.

Also by choosing another misogynist pig some women thinking of just not voting may become more motivated to vote against that ticket.

With a much younger Kamala to compare himself with, Trump looks absolutely decrepit and senile. So much for Trump harping on Biden's age anymore. Kamala flipped that script on him big time. It's like Kamala is getting revenge for Joe on that issue.

Issue... issue. Or fox news/rural shitter issue?

Vast majority of "illegal" immigrants are people that have overstayed their work/travel visas.

Now answer your own question 🙂

So what you are telling me is... they came here legally by an employer and were *supposed to be here*.

This is my shocked face.

😱

Republicans don't want the border fixed just like Israel's ultra right doesn't want Hamas to go away. They need a boogey man to keep showing up to keep the masses scared.

I live within 40 miles of the border and have projects literally within a stone's throw of the wall.

Border issues in order of being problems:
  1. Human misery created by our intentionally cruel immigration and asylum policies.
  2. Ecological damage from smuggler and Border Patrol activities. Destruction of habitat, cutting Mexican from American populations.
  3. Violence in Mexico driven by American drug addiction.
  4. Border Patrol agents driving like assholes.
  5. Border Patrol bothering American citizens.
  6. Trash along immigration and drug smuggling routes.
  7. Surveillance cameras everywhere. A person can't take a piss in the woods without being on camera.

Just to be clear, you aren't equating illegal immigrants with HAMAS are you? I cant speak for the leaders of Israel, but I bet the thousand plus (and their extended families) who were raped, brutalized and slaughtered by HAMAS in the initial attack would like to see them go away.

There is plenty of blame to go around in the Gaza situation, but lets just remember how the situation started and the atrocities that were inflicted on Israel first.

allow me to submit my reply.... ahem
Here it comes...

to save some time. I am referring to my post #4,707 in the specific Forum Topic about Israel's response to Oct. 7

remember 2018 when Palestinians were marching toward the wall of Gaza.

Israeli snipers were not restrained in 2018 as far as I know. And from what I remember the protests in 2018 were largely by peaceful demonstrators aside from reports of rock throwers and people rolling burning tires toward the fenceline / war keeping Palestinians in Gaza.

And there are credible reports that Israel was warned by at least one other neighboring Nations intelligence personnel prior to Oct. 7. in the weeks following the attack.

Egypt warned Israel days before Hamas struck, US committee chairman says BBC news website story.

as well as a later report seeming to confirm that Israel should have had enough of a warning to be more prepared.

Hamas being a group of militants they are not the entirety of the Palestinian population in parts of Israel and Palestinians have tried non violence before. as reported by DemocracyNow.

Also ldo an internet search on the number of Palestinians killed vs the numbers of Israelis killed over the past few decades...
I think that one would find that just based on the death tolls suffered by either side that Palestinians have a greater solely numerical argument for grievances than Israel.

Israel is going for a regional record it seems since Oct. 07

Now I know that some people cast doubt on the Hamas numbers of reported dead. Fair Enough Hamas is an armed organization that is involved in violence.

However there is this report from the Lancet
The Lancet: Gaza’s True Death Toll Could Be 186,000 or Higher

Israel’s war on Gaza has entered its 10th month as the official Palestinian death toll has reached nearly 38,200. But a new report in the British medical journal Lancet estimates the actual death toll could be 186,000 or even higher — that’s roughly 8% of Gaza’s population. The report looks at how war leads to indirect deaths due to shortages of medical care, food, shelter and water.
