It has nothing to do with the party elites. They are just listening to the voters via polls, letters, phone calls, focus groups etc. The voters don’t want Biden. We got new information after the fake coronation primary was already held.
The primary was open to whoever would want to run. No one was stopping candidates from signing up.
Um, that's how elections work. People will either not vote (horrible for Dems) or will pick a team even if they normally don't like that team. Biden has to give people a reason to vote FOR him if he wants any shot to win.

Well if he had done a primary debate a year ago maybe this conversation could've been had back then. People didn't know he had declined this much. This is right up there with the supreme Court saying people can vote to end gerrymandering.
A primary debate against 2 relative nobodies? It's not like "real" candidates were flocking to the scene. If they're congresspeople and other relatively important people in the party, they should have some level of access to the president.
This is wrong. The reason why people can’t vote to end gerrymandering is because the legislature thwarts them when they do.
That's the thing he could end this narrative today if he was capable. The fact that he hasn't is probably a pretty good indication he is not capable. A presidential candidate should be doing daily interviews that are coherent, not one a week with a bunch of WTF moments.
Remember after that House report calling him a well meaning elderly man when he stormed out before the cameras and blew it..... He's as ready to hit the trail as a copart car with a dead battery and 4 flat tires.
Not a perfect analogy, but if people had the information others would've ran and he would've lost. This information was hidden, though, so people treated it like a normal incombent primary.
Again refusing to engage on the facts about the state of the party in the lead-up to the primaries and how Biden leveraged his incumbency to prevent a competitive primary, and to keep repeating it as fact is amazing.
It is impossible for me to believe that his potential primary opponents had no idea.
