While I normally would agree with the bolded. Trump is Trump and I belong to the majority who won't vote for him, while I would like Biden to do what you suggested. Assuming there's a 2nd debate, I don't care if Biden's performance is so bad it makes the 1st one look like an Oscar worthy performance. He still has my vote. Biden probably won't step down, and if he somehow does, well Kamala or whoever is his replacement is would get my vote.

At this point he's the only option even if he appears to be knocking on deaths door. And even with all of Trump's legal issues which should help Biden, unfortunately this go around there's RFKJ, who a decent number of people think is an actual viable option. Biden vs Trump I'd say Biden without a worry in the world. But Biden vs Trump vs RFKJ? Robert could do just well enough to fuck it up for Biden. I understand some peoples legit frustrations with Biden, but throwing away a vote on Robert ugh.

The basic problem is that a lot of voters are nothing like you and me. They have a fundamental disagreement on two key ares.

1. They don't understand that Joe Biden has been effective as POTUS. He has some solid wins under his belt, and while there will always be some differences over policy, the MAGA talking points are mostly bullshit. But it matters not whether it's bullshit; it matters whether swing voters believe it. We can argue until our faces turn purple that the U.S. macroeconomy has smashed all its peers but because of long-term GOP policies, most people do not feel this economy works for them. And somehow they draw really asinine conclusions that Trump was a good steward of the economy, and that he will return us to steak and lobster dinners every night.

2. Since they don't approve of the job Pres. Joe Biden is doing, they deeply care about Candidate Biden. And this is where there is a real and growing concern. And it's arguably how he got into hot water in the first place. He's been working a brutal schedule packed with intercontinental travel, and then he had to shoehorn in a lengthy debate prep. Quite simply, the 81-year-old man ran out of juice. And therein lies the challenge, not only does he have to keep his challenging "day job" that would wreck a lot of people, he also has to campaign vigorously and avoid any further erosion to his image.

It's still possible for Candidate Biden to win reelection, but it's clear that a LOT is being asked of him right now and nobody truly knows whether he can still deliver.

I can’t forget the price I paid for the little I understand that allowed me to defeat hopelessness and despair. It cost me everything I held sacred. I am not greatly troubled, therefore, if how I choose to attempt to share what I know does not suit others taste. Central to my world view regarding truth is that it is the last thing we want to know such that no matter how one attempts to convince people of this fact it will be ignored.

I sought and gathered these little crumbs. Perhaps they will only seem to have nutritional value to those who are very hungry or perhaps not even then. Maybe my posts will be of value, worthless as they are, to someone who has no funds for better things.

If all you have is a thimble it will be hard to water a garden.
 
Where has Biden been all week? They couldn't even put together a scripted event with the right amount of naps and supplements yet?

I've never been mean to Biden before I just think he should have done what he said and been a long-term president. The risks were too great he was deteriorating quickly as we saw, And this is the shit that happens.

But this nonsense about staying in and taking this long to decide is just insulting If it's not A smokestream while they figure out some logistical stuff for the passing of the torch. If it's just delaying tactics for that then that's great I respect that. Otherwise I don't respect him if he stays in or is really thinking about it.

It's a dereliction of duty to the country. Man I got to say on social media It's like 50% Biden cultists and 50% saying stop fucking around with reality.

I rewatched the so called "debate" a second time and it wasn't as bad, or best said Biden wasn't as bad on second watch (YouTube). Poor, sure, but Biden did make some good points and some good jabs. This is, after you get over the old-man thing. I think the shock from watching the original live debate may have lead to knee-jerk conclusions. Considering everything, I would hope Biden to stay in the race. Besides, I really don't think any of this matters in the end nor will the polls. What will matter is the abortion thing, while not the abortion thing per se but more so the attacking of women rights thing. Which boils down to the abortion thing.

I dont remember the exact order of concerns, or the article that they were addressed in, but IIRC, abortion rights are somewhere in fourth or fifth place in
issues that concern potential voters. Most concerning are immigration, the economy/inflation, and which candidate is more competent to hold the office. Unfortunately, rightly or not, Trump wins in all these categories vs Biden. Abortion is a strong issue for the Dems, granted, and helped them greatly in the 2022 mid terms. The issue seems to have receded to a less prominent place now, with other concerns rising to the top.
Reproductive rights are basically the only issue that polls have shown Biden to have an advantage. The Dems cant rely on this issue to tip the scales this time.

The appointment by Trump of his justices justifies anything else he has done good or bad. Conservatives won the biggest battle of the entire war by Hillary losing and DJT doing this. Their decisions will affect Americans adversely for decades to come because liberals are so damn afraid of upsetting anyone. Biden doesn't have the sack to do this, if Trump won in 2024 and needed to pack the court he'd do it in a heart beat.

So all the talk has been about Biden, when in fact the real issue that threatens the nation's delicate hold on democracy is Trump and the Republican's effort to drag the nation back into the draconian past via Project 2025.

The threat is as real as Trump's constant lies that speak to the hoax he and his party is pulling on the nation. It's as real as the GOP's Project to seize power and permanently deny the majority of the peoples of the nation a voice and the means to choose who we want to represent us in gov't.

Enough talk of Biden and the issue of his age. It's his intentions to defend democracy against the GOP's efforts to crush it underfoot and install Trump as a corporate controlled figurehead that's THE ISSUE that should be the one and only fact that needs to be focused on as far as what we all should be concerned about.

The Media Circus is having it's day raking in the profits at Biden's expense and the GOP's own media outlets are taking full advantage of the show.
