odd windows XP/office problem

this happened when i tried installing Office 2000/XP onto my newly configured XP computer...

whenever i try installing Office (any variant) directly from the CD, it stops midway through and says it cannot read one of the CAB files. if i make an .ISO of it, burn a new copy, i still get the same results.

this also happens if i try to mount the .ISO using Daemon-tools.

however, if i copy the entire CD to the hard-disc (drag and drop method), and run the installation that way, the program installs perfectly. i doubt it's a problem with my cd-rom since i've managed to install everything else from it BUT Office. any help?

I had this same prob with some software in Win 98.I never figured it out though🙁.(The only reason I post this is because I dont think it is XP that is the problem.)If I copied the contents of the cd onto my hd and installed from there all whent well.

But I can say I didnt have the problem with the software until I burnt a copy of it.I dunno if that has anything to do with it but it seemed like it did at the time.🙂
