Odd USB Drive issue

I just bought a 8GB Team group C112 USB stick and I can't get it to work. It appears to be recognised as a USB drive by windows, but never actually appears. Looking in Disk Manager it lists it as a disk but it says it has no media (Exactly like a dvd drive with no disk in it). It's in device manager as a 'Generic USB Flash Disk USB Device'.

On my mac it also doesn't work. Though again it's recognised (I can tell because VM Ware asks me if I want to connect it to windows or OSX when I insert it) but doesn't appear as a drive. I can't see it in Disk Utility.

Any ideas?

I would if I could but as I said it says 'No Media' for that drive in disk manager there is nothing to partition or format. Windows recognises it as a drive, but it doesn't show any of the storage space on it.

Where did you buy this drive? Ebay by any chance?

NewEgg. I suspect it is a fake, but I'm surprised NewEgg are selling fakes.

It could very well just be defective. Authentic big brands do have RMA's...
