All right, I am just going to post this to get some opinions.
I assume the board I have has a messed up sensor; it reads as 46C at post for my 165 opty.
It sometimes randomly goes down to 38C or up a little from the POST to 51 52.
Using Core Temp, I see that my cores are at 31/31C at idle.
Looking in Speedfan, I see "Core" reading about the same. With temp1 at 54 right now (this corresponds to none of the temps even in the motherboard), and temp1 just flies all over the place while idling (between 40 and 60c).
I reseated the HSF just to be sure, and I haven't had any problems thusfar.
While priming, the core temps are 51C (remember, the core temps), so I assume the motherboard diode is just way way off. I assume it's probably at most low 40's.
But LMK your thoughts.
Motherboard: Epox 9U1697 GLi
CPU: opteron 165 (CCBWE TMPW0604 -- not the greatest stepping in the world)
HSF: Gigabyte G-Power w/AS3
