Odd reseting error

Whenever I try to start programs such as Codewarrior or Acrobat Reader in Internet Explorer, my computer resets on its own. And then when I try to install my sound card drivers (Soundblaster X-Gamer), the computer tells me I have a severe error and that it can't detect any sound card, yet I'm running my sound card on one of the win2k drivers. Can anyone help me out?Reseting problem
