I have a 2gb jump drive thats normally connected to the computer. I put a copied dvd into the drive (a backup, i own the original) and when it started playing (using windows media player) the activity light on the jump drive started flashing, for about 1 minute, until i unplugged it.

Anyone have any ideas why it would be flashing when the movie is playing?

The jumpdrive is contacting the MPAA and RIAA to report your activities. I would lay low for a couple weeks :)

Jump drives always stay activated long after you copy the files over. I don't know why.

I haven't used the jump drive today, haven't opened up, or done anything with it in the past 20 hours

Because it's an activity light. When you play the movie, it is is accessing the drive. Hence the activity.

I think he's saying that the movie is on a DVD, not on the USB drive. Anyway, I think it's because Windows Media Player may be set to automatically search for new media on all drives by default. I know it tries to access my MP3 player whenever I start it up. If you try playing other files with WMP, does the same thing happen?

I guess i made it unclear, the movie was on a DVD-r, and when i played it from the disc, the activity light in my jumpdrive started flashing. I was doing NOTHING with the jumpdrive. It was just plugged into a usb port, like it always is. When media player started, the jump drive activity light started flashing.

No videos are on the jump drive!
