Odd question about deer

I've considered that. However, most of my neighbors have 4 foot fences and dogs. Deer will sometimes run for a bit after being hit in the heart/lungs. 100 yards isnt much when hunting in a normal enviroment. 100 yards where I live means I have to move a bloody 200 pound carcass over a couple fences while dogs try to get themselves a piece of it OR try their best to wake everyone up. I may end up seeing where his trail leads to, and if he has been going to where I think he has been (field at the end of the street), I may be crawling up a tree at the edge of the field with a crossbow.

But after I thought about the blunt trauma option, I decided I wanted to know if it would work.

remember you gotta field dress (gut) the deer within an hour of killing it, idealy.

ok ok i can understand that.

so how about this? it will keep it from running and you can take whatever time you need to kill it! or keep it as a pet!
 
I'm going to say that unless the deer have been raised to be hand fed and are tame you aren't going to get within
yards of the deer with a flashlight and a bat.
 
I fail to see the need to kill the animal for just wandering through the yard, but if you try this, please videotape it for future Darwin award consideration.
 
Let me tell you a story that couldn't possibly be true because it would mean that someone I knew acted unlawfully 😉


A deer had been hit by this car and was standing in this friend of a friend's back yard. The friend of a friend decided to call my friend on his cell as he was coming home from work, so they could dispatch this deer and take the meat. (illegal and stupid because most of the meat was probably bruised).

Now my friend is 230 lbs of muscle and decides he is going to cut the deer's throat with a pocket knife he has. After wrapping his arm around the deer by the neck and cutting its throat, the deer, which didn't like this, proceeded to run around the yard carrying my friend and then throwing him into a creek. After going on two more rides the deer finally did succumb.

It was hard to tell which animal had been in the accident.
 
Actually, my freinds dad hit a deer in his van comin home from werk a few nights ago. He killed it, loaded it up in the van, and proceeded to drive to some guys he knew and had it butchered.

I gotta give some props to this guy.
