Odd question about deer

Could a large, physically fit young man expect to knock out/stun/kill a large whitetail buck with a single blow to the head using a metal baseball bat (one handed swing)?
 
if you hit it on the skull with the sweet spot of the bat I'm thinking that you'll cave it's head in pretty easily.
 
Why one handed? I'd use two hands.

And yeah, I think you could do it. If the deer would ever let you get that close to it, that is. Which it wouldn't.
 
ummm ok...

yes you could probably kill it, but it'd probably run away before you had a chance to even get near it.

Well, the other hand would be holding a large bright flashlight...

edit: but since I've never jacklighted a deer before, I dont know for sure how close you can walk up to one before they'll run.

We have hit a doe going 70mph in the head (direct headlight hit). I got out and helped it to its feet and then it walked off jumped over the fence and went away. It was bloody and stuff but still ived.

If you do that to a deer I will do it to you.
 
I think you can kill alot of animals with a good conk to the head. But i think if you took a bat to the horns of a ram it wont do too much

How long did it live though? Chances are it was just running on adrenaline and had broken something, in which case there is a decent chance it later starved to death. I've seen a deer shot through both lungs run over 100 yards before collapsing. It was dead meat the second the bullet hit, but it just took it a couple seconds to realize that. A deer shot in the guts can sometimes make it 5+ miles. I had to help a guy track one down after he hit it in the gut. It made it a bit over three linear miles, and it's path was not at all linear.

I dont see much of a difference between shooting a deer and killing it with one blow to the head. Either way, I'd eat it, so what is the difference?

In any event, I only ask because there is a huge buck that has been walking through my yard about 6:15 every morning, and it made me curious. And by huge I mean I can pick out twelve points even in craptastic lighting. Since I doubt a flashlight is going to get him to hold still while I get into range, and since dropping out of a tree isnt a realistic option, the point is likely to be moot.

I've considered that. However, most of my neighbors have 4 foot fences and dogs. Deer will sometimes run for a bit after being hit in the heart/lungs. 100 yards isnt much when hunting in a normal enviroment. 100 yards where I live means I have to move a bloody 200 pound carcass over a couple fences while dogs try to get themselves a piece of it OR try their best to wake everyone up. I may end up seeing where his trail leads to, and if he has been going to where I think he has been (field at the end of the street), I may be crawling up a tree at the edge of the field with a crossbow.

But after I thought about the blunt trauma option, I decided I wanted to know if it would work.

Not a chance in hell a man could take down a full grown mountain mountain gorilla @ 350-600 lbs.
