odd problem

so i was paying COH and all of a sudden my screen locks up, but it came back after like a minute. then it happened again, and it still came back. then all of a sudden the game completely locks up so i have to alt-f4 out of the game and apparently my video drivers get messed up. my fan speed goes from 80%-10%. and whenever i scroll down it acts like no video drivers are installed. when i restart my pc everything is fine again. it has happened to me before but only once and with a different set of drivers. right now im using the newest omega drivers.

Could be the drivers or too much of an overclock. Some games handle OC's better than others (if you have it OC'ed).
BTW, how much amperage is on your PSU's +12v rail(s)?

The fan fluxuation in 3d is (usualy) low-power to full-power toggling on and off. Low-P defaults your fan low as High-P defaults high where there is an incline for heat.

Try to set the default clocks, check that the temperature is not too high for the GPU core, also try to test your RAM, if you have a bad address, the videocard is the one who will feel the memory fault locking it up, that happened to me and when I switched of RAM and settled the correct timings, it no longer occured, try to test it with Windiag or Memtest. Also make sure that you have the latest chipset and display drivers.
