I am having an odd problem with my computer that I haven't been able to figure out. When I open several programs (notably internet explorer 6 and Steam.exe - which is used for counterstrike source) the application will just close after a few seconds.
For instance when I open IE6 a browser window will pop up for about a second or two and then disappear. No error message, no crash, no nothing it's just gone.
Steam.exe will run for a few seconds, even let me click through a few menus but ultimately will just disappear along with any windows I opened from within it. I have the service icon down in the task bar which will stay there until I hover the mouse over it at which point it just disappears as well.
These both began acting this way around the same time so I'm guessing they're related...no major changes to the computer itself that I can think of offhand.
Any ideas?
