OK, so I start the XP install (it boots fine from CD), then it won;t boot from the HD for that part of the install. So I update BIOS, try different HD's, try just formatting for DOS using a Win95 floppy. Will only boot from CD. So then I try SATA, and all sorts of bios options. Same problem, only CD (and floppy).

So then I try SCSI, and the disk I picked already had an OS and started booting ! But now, even though CD is first to boot in the sequence in BIOS, it will never boot from anything other than SCSI !!!! WTF *^$&%^#^%#??????

Any ideas ?

Have you tried clearing CMOS settings? Going back to the old BIOS version?

If you were installing XP from a bootable CD with CD being set as the first boot option, after the initial XP install off CD and system reboot; you'd have to re-arrange the boot order or it would boot off the CD and start the install process again.
