Odd Internet Explorer Problem

Here's the deal: Today I went over to my friend's house to essentially give his computer a tune up. A problem I encountered after running Ad-Aware and deleting all the spyware is that now when he opens Internet Explorer, no pages load. AIM and everything else works fine. Plus, he is able to access the internet through my computer by typing in a web address and essentially changing the explorer window to an internet explorer window, and from there it works fine. Whenever a pop-up or web page opens a new window, though, that window does not work. He is running Windows ME (Ugh...) and has a cable internet connection. Any ideas?

might be a dumb theory on my part but why not try to reinstall IE from the ME disk???

else,, get NETCAPE or MOZILLA,,,, IE never loads as fast for me than Netscape does ...

That would be a good idea, if I weren't so worried about messing up his computer ...The only time I ever tried to reinstall Internet Explorer on Windows Me back in the day, I had to reformat... Is anything likely to go wrong?

Anything likely to go wrong? You knew enough to tune his computer, so I think you know enough to have an idea of where your question is leading

I third the motion for going to Mozilla (or Firebird, which, IMO, is better, altho' the beta's buggy for me, others online have had much better luck). Now that I've gotten used to Mozilla and tabbed browsing, there's just no way to go back to IE. It took many years, but Netscape finally brought me back. I've been freed.

If you do that for your friend, he'll be happy that you disabled his IE (however inadvertant it was )

I'll try to get him to, and see if it works. I may eventually try re-installing IE, and yes I do know what I'm doing, but it's different from working on your own computer... I would rather not incapacitate his :\...
