Odd Graphics problem, bottom half of screen garbled...

I've had this problem on Two different video cards so I don't think its the card, but it still could be an nvidia driver issue.

What happens is i'm going along fine and all of a sudden the bottom half (exactly half) of the screen will stop rendering any video and it will get some crossed lines or garbled stuff on it, and the entire screen will now be scrunched up to the top half of the screen and be only rendered there. This has happened in 3d games and on just the desktop...it is rare though, maybe 1 or twice per week.

This has happened on a 7950gx2 card and a 7900gto card.

The fix is to reboot and things work fine again.

What do you have for a power supply? Have you tried the monitor with a differant computer to verify it's not a monitor problem(would be very very strange and uncommon for 2 totaly differant video cards to get exactly the same problem).

I have a 550watt Ultra X powersupply...I don't see how it coudl be the monitor but the next time it happens I will try to turn off the monitor and back on to see if that clears it...

I suspect it is an Nvidia driver issue but I would think others would have experienced it then.
