Odd framerate drop...

I was running a AMD K6-2 500 MHz CPU with a DFI K6XV3+/66 mobo when i purchased my 700 MHz Duron and MSI K7T Pro. My video card is a Creative Labs GeForce DDR (32MB). I installed the CPU and mobo and then tested framerates in Q3. In normal mode(maybe res at 800 x 600...forgot to check) I got 58.6 FPS. Then a month or so after that test i was having many network problems and decided to format my HD. After doing so and getting all my drivers reinstalled and such I went back to my playing Q3. I noticed the game seemed exceptionally slower, and choppier. I decided to run a timedemo and check my framerate. To my dismay I scored a pitiful 39 FPS. I was shocked. I had been recently getting a error when playin RA3 saying "Memory low, using deferred model." I asked around and found out i was getting this due to the extra RA3 maps i had downloaded and installed. So I removed the maps and ran the time demo again. I got a measly 41.2 FPS. I kept trying other things like closing ICQ and re-installing drivers and after every attemp i ran a timedemo. The best I could score was a 49!!! This really baffles me because I was getting 58 FPS with a 50% full HD and now I'm getting worse framerates with a 25% full HD. Does anyone know what is causing this...or what i could do to fix it? Your input will be greatly appreaciated.

How much RAM do you have? If that's ample check the easy stuff like makesure you have hardware rendering on, latest VIA 4in1 drivers, ect. What video card drivers are you using? I've found the 6.18 to be the fastest on my system.

I have 128MB RAM but what you have to keep in mind when diagnosing this problem is that it WAS working fine (58 fps) and after i formatted and reinstalled everything now its slow.

what are you virtual memory settings? if you set them yourself, make sure they are at least 256 mbs. try getting the latest bios and what not for your mobo. if you did that recently, i suggest you go into your bios and turn off all of the shadowing.

Xcalibur, post this question to the RA3 mailing group. This has been discussed on that forum before, I can't remember what the answer is, unfortunately.

RoboTECH, I'm sorry but I really dont think it has anything to do with RA3. When I run the timedemo and such, ra3 is not running but i still get bad framerates. I also deleted the RA3 maps with no luck. But thanks for trying.
