Odd error in Windows 2000 setup

When I set up win2k on my main rig (the duron), at one point (after it formats and checks the disks), it says something like "Disk IO error" and has a number (0008001 iirc), but this doesn't seem to affect anything, as proved by the fact that I'm happily typing this in that very Windows 2000 install. :)
But the annoying part of this whole thing is that each time I boot up the computer, that same disk error message flashes in the corner of the screen before it does that text-mode progress bar where it says "Press F8 for advanced options", and there is delay of probably about 5 seconds where the screen is totally black before that progress bar appears. It doesn't seem to be causing any trouble, but still it is very annoying, and I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions about this problem? Thanks.

it might be something with your hard drive...
try running check disk, or 'chkdsk' in DOS.

It's the Iomega Zip drive that is doing it. Comp I built for my Pop's had same exact problem. Thats why I knew you had a zip drive. Remove the zip drive and it will go away. if you neeed the zip (cant imagine why) then there may be no fix for it,as I have read it is a bios compatibility issue or something to that effect. It didn't seem to effect my dad much, altho he did have to lockups with win2k upon boot after installing some stuff that he could never recover from and had to format and reinstall. Once the drive was gone, he hasn't had the problem again. Not sure if the lockups were attributed to the Zip, but at the minimum he did always have the I/O error.

I guess once I get my old files off the zip disks and onto CDRs instead, the Zip drive must come out. Thanks for your help, btw.
