Hello,

I would like a little knowledge on this before I take my car into a shop to get it checked out.

I have a 2007 Mazda 3i (2.0 liter) manual 5-speed. The car has 43k miles on it. I have changed the oil every 3k (or sooner) miles.

My engine is making a "clattering" noise in all 5 gears from 1600-2100 rpm while driving. The noise does not happen if I rev the engine in neutral.

Any idea what may be the cause?

Thanks

Edit: Also, the "clattering" only happens if I press down on the accelerator a littler harder than what would be normally necessary.

I had a similar problem in a Civic... I think it was the shift linkage that was worn and rattling (but only at highway speeds).
