Odd Chrome/Outlook issue

I notice there's a 'computer help' forum in hardware, but not software.

I have a Chrome browser open with dozens of tabs. That doesn't stop me from starting other big apps and running them fine, but I'm sure it could contribute to problems somehow in the browser.

Outlook has always gotten weird when it is open a while, but this is a new variation.

The outlook inbox just stops being responsive - you can't select any messages. Closing the tab and restarting it may or may not allow reading one message.

I ran Malwarebytes and it found nothing contributing to this. All the other tabs work ok.

Not sure what the right fix is short of changing browsers.

Just refreshed the tab, and it worked about 2 seconds, where you could highlight different e-mails or probably open one - and then it froze on and e-mail and you couldn't pick a different one.

You can't open any including the one it's stuck highlighting.

When you mouse over the folders - the mouse moves - the cursor changes, but clicking on folders doesn't do anything.

That's what it's doing now for days.

You really need to post the versions of Windows and the applications, as well as the specs of the PC when asking a question like this.

The two programs aren't related in any way, so it's probably safe to assume that Outlook isn't happy with however much memory remains on the computer.

Yeah, nigh non-existent information of import and just talking about two completely unrelated programs as if they are joined at the hip is a surefire way to get no help.

Craig, you have a computer. It is a MACHINE. It cannot do everything you want it to . It has limitations. close all those Chrome windows and see what happens to Outlook.. It has a LIMITED amount of memory. Chrome is a memory hog.

Of course it is. But it was used the same way for months without that issue, and it wasn't an absolute memory issue or starting big programs would see issues - so it had to be more of a local issue in Chrome. It might or might not be some issue with local memory in chrome, but only affected that one tab, in a way it hadn't for months, so there are questions what's happening.

It's still unclear why you think a problem that you're having in Outlook is is a problem with Chrome. It makes no sense.

I wonder whether OP was talking about desktop Outlook program or online outlook.com by using Chrome browser.

So you are using online Outlook.com with Chrome.

Have you tried to clear Chrome's browser data like cached images and files and cookies?

People who have no interest in helping and asking useful clarifying questions but only criticizing is the surefire way to get no help, and the actually relevant to your post way to get no help.

Right, put it all on everyone else. "Only those interested in helping will spend all the extra time required to wring the information out of me that I should have provided up front." You're wasting your own time and those of the people who do genuinely want to help. It's fine if you don't value your own time, but it's absolutely disrespectful to have that attitude towards your "free" tech support.

If you are willing to help Craig234 with his issues,
with the information he is willing to provide,do so.

If not, please move along to something else
on our forums.
