Odd Autocad Issue

Problem:
Whats happening is when moving the mouse you cannot see the pointer until you stop moving it. Same thing happen when drawing. you can start to draw the line, wont see it draw until you release the mouse. Any Ideas as to why?

System Details:
Have a client who has 2 new HP Compaq dc5700 Small Form Factor PC, a low profile machine, 1 x pcie 1x slot and 2x pci slots

They have autocad 2004 LT. XP Pro Sp3

Things I tried:
They have installed in the machines both from hp for that card, a pcie x1 nvidia 8400gs card, and in the other from hp a pcie x1 nvidia Quadro nvs 290.

I have tried the official drivers from hp and it still happens. Tried the drivers from nvidia it still happens. As odd as it is it works fine on the integrated intel video that is in the machine.

The reason why they need the video card is they need to have a dual dvi card for the 2 monitors they have on each machine

The machine only accepts low profile video cards.

Trying to see if there is an easy answer

Can't think a good reason why, have you tried right click>option>display tab, then select 100 for the crosshair size, should then cover the whole screen. Thats how I draw anyway.

I also have it on 2 screens, though of course CAD is only one whilst I have other stuff open on the other screen. Seems odd graphics card would make a difference, we all have graphics cards in the office, no one uses integrated (nope sorry, the laptop does, but that works fine too) and we all work fine.

Anymore info to offer if its not working.

Also from memory, there is some combination of SNAP/GRID/ORTHO etc that causes it to do as described, I think I've seen it but I can't remember what it was, I just remember fiddling with the various options worked. FYI I only have ORTHO/OSNAP/OTRACK/MODEL on.

I have checked the crosshair setting and it is set to 100

Yeah thats what I though too, but the only thing i can thing of is the fact the graphics cards are a pci-e x1 card and not a full x16

its been a long time since iv used 2k4 but i think this should work.

click tools, options, system tab, performance settings, manual tune button. turn off hardware acceleration.

yeah, i have tired that too... still no luck...... not going to worry about too much, customer is going to use the machine for other users and get new tower.
