sounds like one needs to get in touch with some od uppers that can put some heat on that mgr. if he/she doesn't honor an ADVERTISED price, they'd better have a GOOD reason... get that mgr's name, call the store, find out when he/she is not there and go back and try again...
I feel this is unfair criticism and would not recommend doing this. Saying that, I am one of the fortunate ones who "got in on this deal" and it was entirely at the manager's discretion. Here is how it happened.
I had skimmed this thread Sunday and thought it was a legit deal. When I went to the store yesterday, there was a disclaimer in the glass case where the memory was displayed. I went to a check out counter and asked for a price check which came up at $99.99. The clerk said that was the price and pointed to a sign on the front desk of the store which was a larger copy of the disclaimer. The manager picked up that something was going on and asked if he could help.
I
politely told him that the sole reason I came in was to purchase the memory. I also said that I understood mistakes happen and was not going to hold them to the ad, but I was irritated about the error and the inconvenience it had caused me. He said it was a mistake but wanted to make it right. He asked me to wait and walked away. When he returned, he had a memory stick in hand and told the clerk to sell it for $29.99. I thanked him, we both smiled and went on our way.
The handling of this situation is consistent with every other transaction I have had with OD over the years. OD has always treated me fairly and will sometimes go to great lengths to satisfy their customers or right a wrong. From tracking down merchandise in other stores all over the country to discounting or even offering refunds. I wish all business were as conscientious as OD.
In the end, I felt bad for OD because I knew they were going to suffer a loss in the transaction which was not my intent. Bottom line, I think it is unfair to flame OD and definitely would not escalate the issue.
