OCZ's power supplies any good ?

Hi, I was wondering if the OCZ powersupplies are any good, and if anyone has some personal experiences with them, I would like to get the OCZ modstream 520 watt PSU in peticular.

i have the modstream 450 and it is a very very good power supply. A friend has the powerstream and it is good as well. Can't go wrong with them as long as they fit in your case (they're a little bit longer than the ATX spec, so keep that in mind if you have a small case or a lian li PC-V1000 or 1100).

I'm getting a V2000 but I already made up my mind to get an enermax anyways, thanks for the information tho.

Well,
Main power using components in rig will be:

Athlon 3500+
7800GT

I'm not going to take a SLI motherboard because imho SLI is not worth it, so dont take possible SLI expension into account.

And I will probably get an
Enermax EG495AX-VE-W-SFMA Power Supply (485W)

which is I think enough to handle this rig.

I've been using a 520w PowerStream for several months and it's a solid unit. The rails don't even fluctuate under load.

I think OCZ's are okay, although overhyped and overpriced.

A much better deal is the fortron blue storm 500 for 75 dollars at ewiz or actbuy (free shipping)

Paid $95 for the OCZ powerstream 420 a month ago and it has been perfect so far. The 5 year warranty backed by OCZ exclusive PowerSwap replacement program was worth paying a bit extra for IMO.

Agreed. OCZ is just an expensive Topower, decent but for the price you can get better.

PSUs go like this; PCP&C > Seasonic > Forton Source, I don't use anything else.

My opinion as well.

I agree with most of the opinions. OCZ is just expensive TopPower..
To me, there are two manufacturer's.. Antec for cheap SSI compatible PSUs and PC P & C for the rest of my systems.

Yeah, OCZ's are stellar, but overpriced/hyped. I got my Antec TP 2.0 550w PSU, and it can run anything I throw at it. BTW it's also officially SLI certified, so that makes me feel better.

problem is here there is only OCZ, Antec, Enermax, Aopen and noname brands available.

so out of those which ones would you take ?

I've got a modstream 520, it's great, it helps to have a case with a supoprt bar, to hold the ATX wire in place, it's a very heavy and stiff wire, so you might have it hitting up agains the door, if you have a window there anyway. And it looks awesome too.

well, not if the OCZ costs more I think, in terms of price for similar wattage it goes like this here:

Antec > OCZ > Enermax > Aopen > Noname

btw, here is Belgium.

edit: in reply to Northwings:
I'd have to import that, and since PSU's are quite heavy the cost of shipping would be huge.
And I really dont care how the internals of my PC look like as long as it functions and doesnt hinder airflow (aka, lots of zipties)

i have the 520, best power supply i have ever owned. look at signature below, all rails solid above what they are supposed to be

The Enermax 495 (non-AX) is an excellent PSU. Have tested this one vs the Seasonic. I've build several systems with the Enermax. Quiet and cool running with two fans in a push-pull configuration. Highly recommended if you can get in under $70.

Fortron is another fine choice. Unfortunately, it's a little noisier than the 495 Enermax.
