I am getting ready for a new build and I was wondering if a 850 watt PSU is overkill for my new computer? I don't have all the parts yet but here is what I am going to build:

Processor: Intel i7 - 930
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS 9900 LED cooler
Motherboard: MSI Big Bang Xpower
Ram: Probably going to be 6GB (3x2)
Optical Drive: LG Blu-Ray reader/burner
Hard Disk Drive: Samsung F3 1TB drive/Western Digital 320GB from my old PC
Video Card: EVGA GTX 465
Case: Looking at purchasing a Cooler Master Storm Sniper Black Edition with 4 fans already installed.

I could salvage my old Corsair HX620A PSU from my old PC but I am not sure if it would handle SLI from the new GTX series cards.

Thank you in advance.

Your HX620 would be fine unless you do SLI. Your PSU should have enough native connectors for your GPUs.

And speaking of GPUs, you really should be getting the GTX460 1GB instead. It performs at least as well as the GTX465 but uses less power and therefore also runs cooler.

Yes, the GTX460 is a much better choice. Anyway, the HX620 has only two 6-pin PCIe connectors so you will have to use two molex-to-PCIe adapters for powering two GTX460 in SLI. Despite of this, it has power enough on the +12V output(50A/600W). You don't need to buy a new PSU.

I would use PCI-E power splitters, not molex-to-PCIE. That is, if the PSU is a single rail. Otherwise, due to the rails being split between the PCI-E and the molex, then you might have to use a molex-to-PCIE.
