OCZ will give us phase-change!

People, I think I just creamed myself. I was thinking about watercooling, but with this around the corner, I know where my money'll be at 😀. (Might still need watercooling for the graphics card(s), though...)

As of now if they can deliver at under $300 I will easily get 2 of them for my cpu and graphic card.

They're supposed to get to $200 later on, and if that's the case, I'll get 1, 2, 3 or maybe even 4 😀. For that kind of price, you can't really build anything better yourself 😀.

The plan is to make this unit available at a price point where everyone that wants one can afford it. $400 wouldn't be a bad price to pay for something like this...but we want lower 🙂

Big props to OCZ for bringing this to market. I am definitely interested and I will await the reviews to see if I should get this unit over the Vapochill LS. It looks pretty cool, too!

What'll be really interesting is what this does to water cooling, if phase change can be done for so little then will it drive the price of water cooling down to the point where it'll kill aircooling?

Wow...my watercooling setup (CPU + GPU) cost me almost 300 dollars. I would gladly give it up for phase change!

I hate to pop everybodys bubble but....

I see no mention any where on OCZ`s part of a price point.....hhmmmm
Also OCZ isn`t in the habit of giving away there equipment for no $$$$....

I really wouldn`t start drooling becuase I am sure you are probably looking at a very real $500 + in the price department.....

especially when there truthfully is a pecking order starting with air...then water....then.....

"While materials we've seen did not reveal pricing, they did state that the pricing of the phase-change unit will be economical, aiming it not just at the hardcore enthusiast, but at your broader enthusiast base also. This most likely includes those who would dabble in watercooling and beyond."---- lol

It says right in Anandtech's article that ocz's msrp was going to be 300, and that ocz was guessing it would drop to 200 after a while.

Thats all well and good! I did read the article.......but nowhere does it say....for sure 100%....
OCZ hopes to make phase-change a real choice for more buyers with the introduction of a $299 MSRP Phase Change cooling system. Shipments should begin in about 30 days, and OCZ tells us that once sales volume picks up, they are hopeful that prices can drop even further to the $200 range. This will make OCZ phase-change about the same price as some of the better water-cooling kits.

FINALLY JUST REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...
IF I MAY POINT OUT.....OCZ HAS NOT MADE A NAME FOR ITSELF IN THE CPU COOLING DEPARTMENT....DOH

OCZ actually had some decent aircooling back in the day, back when they were a little "less than respectable" in their dealing of business. But they did have pretty good heatsinks.
