OCZ Vertex 2 vs Vertex 3

Hi, new poster here so please go easy on me. I just bought a 160 GB Vertex 2 drive and I didn't know the Vertex 3 had also come out. My system is about 3 years old with a Q6700 (OCed to 3.4GHz), ASUS maximus formula MB, 8 GB RAM, XFX GTX 260. As far as I know, my motherboard only supports up to SATA 2. Is it worth me changing the drive to a vertex 3? Will I benefit from the higher read/write speeds even though it will run through SATA 2?

The price between equivalent capacity vertex 2 and vertex 3 drives is not huge so it would be a shame to miss out.

Any advice appreciated.

don't bother with getting a vertex 3. unless you plan to get sata3 any time soon. even then, you won't notice a difference in day to day use.

Vertex3 drives do have better performance when dealing with writing uncompressable data. For that reason alone, you may wish to consider it, if you are writing things like compressed video and whatnot.

If you are just storing programs or uncompressed data files, then a Vertex2 would be fine.

It seems as though both the vertex2 and vertex3 have timing issues, this is a SF problem all around.
