So here is the info on doing a return with Newegg, opened the box? %15 restocking fee... sucks but it is what it is..

Well worth getting rid of this drive and OCZ's shady business practices imo..

I wrote a bad review on Newegg, and a rep offered me the deal thru email. As much as I dislike the 15% restocking fee, I'm going this route. Thanks OCZ for ruining my first ever SSD experience.

I actually sent an email to the Newegg service department yesterday explaining what OCZ did and how I think the %15 restocking fee is unfair because it is not as if I mistakenly purchased the wrong item.

They waived the fee, I love Newegg.

They waived the restock fee and allowed a full return of mine as well. OCZ burned their bridge but Newegg sure isn't.

I think I'll boycott OCZ's RAM as well as their SSDs, this is unethical behavior and there is no reason for me to support them.

But Newegg showed once they are a good company to buy from.

OCZ is now accepting returns and paying shipping both ways to populate all NAND channels that were populated with the 34nm drives. This will make capacity the same as the 34nm drives. Speed definitely should improve for 60GB drives, as they will have double the channels. They said they are expecting speed to be very slightly below the 34nm drives with current firmware, but future firmware should bring them to the same performance.

The original post on the OCZ forum (link in Post #12 of this thread) was updated with this info today.

"As far as I am aware the additional charge for a 32Gbit based drive is $000USD, the charge has now been waved...you pay nothing extra"

I'm sure their hand was forced to do this due to community backlash.
