OCZ Value VX $114.95

ATACOM has 'em for $115, pretty much the price of value ram for guaranteed winbond utt.

220-240 @ 2-2-2 with volts (3.2+) should be attainable for most, but if you get a dud pair (which should be fairly rare) you're down only the cost of most value ram.

The only reason I didn't buy these was because a while back they were $145.
I should have waited. My TwinMOS weren't even UTT, and now I've got Mushkin C2, which, while nice, one of my two sticks is defective, only working at DDR200. My good stick was doing 2-2-2-10 @ 220mhz with 3.0v, which was rather impressive, and I haven't gotten to play with it further yet.

mines in the mail but they don't seem to be flexible with shipping to an address other than what can be confirmed with your credit card, so its going to my billing address and I'll have to go home in order to get it. No big deal for me though.

I live 20 miles away from Atacom and have bought from them in person multiple times. They have shady-ish pricing policies, but they aren't crooks.

is it just me or this seems shady alltogether.. looking at the review of value ram posted today i see that anandtech's pair says 2.5-3-3-7 and on their site its 3-4-4-8?

Hmmmm.... am I just a RAM voltage wuss or does 3.2 sound AWEFULLY high for dimm voltage?

Joe

What does a "dud pair" consist of? Is it safe to assume that these will run at least 2-2-2 @ 200mhz with 3.0-3.2V?

I hate that, it can be quite annoying.

srry this is bit off the topic but.... avalon and beeny, when did u guys order your twinMOS? also, is the outposts' Mushkin C2 Blue guaranteed TCCD? im debating which one of the two, i should take my chances on.

thanks.

btw, atacom is in fremont, ca and i must agree with odeen that that might have "shady-ish" price policy, they aren't crooks. i was able to return a cpu dat was running oddly hot without any hassle but dat was in person.

I have purchased once from atacom before and they are a REAL business. I personally went in to pick up and they had a pretty decent office and their warehouse at the back actually had the merchandise that they are selling, so they are not crooks.

At that time, the front desk CSR even brought like 3-4 different motherboards for me to look when i asked which was way nice of him and gave me his input on what he thought. I am seriously thinking about purchasing this memory but after tax, it comes out to $125.

my KVR runs fine at 2-3-3-5 upto 210 Mhz (will try more later).....dont know if I should go for this VX.

If you have a fan blowing over the sticks, the high voltage is not a problem. The sticks can take hi voltage. Its the heat that kills them.

Can anyone verify that these are the correct memory modules, i.e. OCZ4001024WV3DC-K ? The label in the picture at the site looks like it's missing the "W"...

yes, they are the correct modules. I just got my pair yesterday and i have them running at 229 2-3-2-5 @ 3.2v so far... still burning in

got the ram from atacom. from outside, look like the gold fingers had marks... box with only a ocz sticker that wrap around the plastic box. Those package easily can be tempted.
(never got RAM that has those marks beside once recently an order of cosair value ram from monarchcomputer that clearly was opened and tested for one of the ram! )

look inside, some chips has a thin of dust on it! I think it may be a rebag of old Ram or something....
Ram works though... no time to OC it yet.

Either Atacom screwed up the info and picture, or those aren't the same sticks AT reviewed. The reviewed sticks were rated CAS2.5, not CAS3, which was labelled clearly on the sticks themselves; and the ICs on the reviewed units were completely blank, but these are tattooed with the OCZ logo. By comparison, Newegg's sticks seem to be the same as the reviewed ones, but they're also more than twenty bucks more expensive. You pays you money, and you takes you chance....

I almost bought this too. If anyone else gets this, can you let us know what memory you actually get?

It's 140 at monarch but at least there I'm guaranteed of getting the real deal.

I've got mine and they are indeed winbond chips

Yes, the volts are high, but when OCZ honors the warranty for their high end chips (lifetime I might add) they're definately built to take the high volts. Although the OCZ won't honor the warranty if you over volt the chips, you have to pay a hefty premium for that. However they will honor warranties within reason, just don't lie to them.

I got mine a week ago... but had to RMA them to Atacom. The first stick showed 3 errors in memtest at normal clock. The second stick showed 10,000+ errors in the first 30 seconds ;-)

Well, not really. The site never says "Value VX", and the picture of the ram, the sticker on it does state "3-4-4"
