OCZ Rally2 USB drive problem. LED on all the time.

I just purchased OCZ Rally2 USB pen drive and I think there's something wrong with it. The problem is that the drive's LED stays on all the time. When there's a data transfer it flashes as you would normally expect. I don't know if this is ok but I had two other USB pen drives before and their LEDs stayed off all the time and flashed when there was a data transfer - kind of the other way round.

Any ideas? Thank's!

It doesn't sound like anything is wrong to me. Some of my USB drives glow whenever they're plugged in, regardless of whether they're in use or not. As long as the thing transfers files like it should, it's not something I'd be worried about.

Thank's! So it doesn't sound like anything bad then! It looks like I shouldn't be concerned about the LED but reliability of the drive though. Have you used OCZ Rally2 by a chance.

Nope, all of the thumb drives I own are Sandisks. I'm not too familiar with this particular OCZ model, but I've seen some really favorable reviews for the OCZ ATV and ATV Turbo.

The LED is suppoed to stay on and flash when data is moving.

Reliability is just fine.... I have a 3 yr old, 2yr old, and 3 month old unit with no issues.

Last count over 3000 units out the door every month, we do not see many issues on the forums.

Thank's ryderOCZ. That's great news for I thought there was something wrong with the drive.
I suppose it is not possible to reverse it :) Or is it? I got used to my other drives and find it pretty annoying at the moment when the LED is on all the time.

Thank's a again for all the answers!!!

The LED? It might be possible to disassemble and remove it. I don't think he'll like me saying that though, since it'll probably result in a voided warranty ...

Stick some black electrical tape over it?

Removing it yourself yes, that voids the warranty.

I will have to ask our flash engineer about changing it in Software...but it would not be changeable just from Windows interface.
