is this a good rated PSU?

OCZ makes mid range PSU's at best. There are lots of better PSU's out there. What are you trying to run off it? You would be much better off with pretty much any model by Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, XFX. And unless you are going for SLI fermi's you probably dont need 850W.

This is exactly why i do not recommend OCZ PSU's, they seem to work fine up to about 60% of there rated output but not well higher than that. My logic has always been then why not buy a high quality(corsair,seasonic,antec) unit with 60-70% the OCZ's capacity for close to the same price and not have to worry about your PSU blowing up and possibly taking components with it.

That is a fairly low power system, do you plan to overclock? If you dont want to overclock and dont intend to get a higher powered GPU in the same system later down the road i would recommend a quality 400-500W PSU, you could even get away with a 400CX corsair with only that 5770 and its usually around $30 on sale after rebate, cant beat it for the money.

If you want to overclock that i7 or just want some more breathing room for a future SLI/Crossfire setup or just a power hungry single card(GTX480) I would go with a quality 650W or maybe 750W unit.

Actually I was mistaken on the 5770, I can get a better deal (and the gpu is better) on the 460. Either way, it'll be that paired with the 4 HDD's, i7, and a ssd. I was thinking of getting the corsair 650w, but just saw the online sale price for the ocz at newegg and wanted to get opinions before jumping any guns. Glad I did - thanks guys!
