Quick google shows that it's an old design (2.5 years at least), overrated on power (840w on 12v rails, same as the HX850 I think) so its really a 850-900w PSU in reality, has weird 12v spikes but generally good voltage regulation, pretty inefficient (77%ish at 320w), and only has an 80mm fan and a very dense inside so I'd bet when pulling a fairly high load out of it, it could be pretty loud

Meh, you could probably do better. If you really need a "1000w" PSU you need to spend more, if you don't, I'd get a better quality newer unit at a lower wattage

I don't really need 1000W, it would be sheer overkill. Just wondering if the PSU was any good overall. For $60 it might be worth it, for rigs that might draw 400-500W.

1000w-$59.95
850w-$49.99
780w Modular-$59.99
700w-$39.99

check them all out here: http://www.svc.com/ocz-psu.html

*Note: This item is recertified by OCZ technology and comes with a one year warranty. Recertified products are in full working order but may contain small cosmetic blemishes such as minor scratches.

For $60 bucks it isn't a bad deal though.

Yes it is a very good power supply. Probably on terms with the PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 1000W....also very loud...just like the Turbo-Cool 1000W

The ProXstream was made by 3Y. 3Y has since been bought by FSP. Evostream was also made by 3Y
