You'll be fine with this drive as long as you remember a very important thing: before doing anything else, remember to install the latest firmware. The earlier firmwares are so bad and destructive that they're actually what's causing all the drives dying between weeks or even days of use. They're also the cause for the corruption, not being detected by motherboards, freezing, BSODs, and other issues.

Basically, every problem associated with it boils down to the horrible early firmware revisions. This drive will serve you good IF and only if you install the latest firmware before doing anything else.

I've been wanting to upsize my 60GB Agility3, Jeepers I wish I had the loot for this!

I've not had issue 1 with my Rev 1.3 Agility3, thank you very much.

This drive is SATA II with Indilinx Arowana FTL controller, with Write Speed: up to 160 MB/sec and Read Speed: up to 250 MB/sec. Not the fastest around, but just what I was looking for my sata II laptop. In for one..

Thanks, steptaker. Word of advice, to those who have a TD B&M store in their state......Circuit City, also owned by TD, doesn't have any B&M stores any more, so no sales tax. 😉

Your agility 3 is a better drive, this is based off Vertex 1 with a firmware that supposedly makes it faster than the original vertex. This drive also seems to have more reliability problems than sandforce drives (such as your agility 3). So you may gain more space, but don't be penny foolish.

FYI - CC is showing $100 after rebate, not $90, and they _do_ charge tax in Florida. While they may not have any stores there, their corporate offices are in Miami (as are CompUSA's and TigerDirect's - actually, all three at the same address 🙂), so they _do_ have a "presence"...

iirc, the presence rule isn't quite that tough. bn.com didn't charge me taxes as it's a separate company from barnes & noble's bricks.

I got a 60 gb vertex plus this past weekend that completely died (undetectable in bios) after about an hour. Got an in-store warranty on it though and the replacement is fine so far.

jumped on it...thanks!

I got the option after to call a number to get an additional $10 off...so i did. They tried selling me something for another $20 savings that I declined, but still get the $10 cash back. So deal was $89 for me ; )
