OCZ Modstream 520=$74 AR, 450=$60 AR

I'm not sure how the actual specs compare but the modstream is a "modular" psu. ie: detatchable plugs.. newegg has decent pics of both models check it out.

The 520's rating is a little misleading. It's max 12V output is 28A. My Enermax 495 Noisetaker 495 is rated at 32A @ 12VDC. More hype with the OCZ name.

The powerstream is probably more stable, but the modstream is beautiful piece of equipment. Never knew they were finishing power supplies so well these days - mirror coated and all. The price on this has been going down lately. Was $85 with rebate last week.

Damn, I was going to buy this on the weekend. Good thing I waited. The big selling point to me is that it has detachable cords. These 500w+ PSUs have way too many connectors and if they are all attached permenently, you will have a huge rat's nest in the case.

The Modstream is not the most powerful PSU, but it is modular which is a big selling point for some.
Also, it has a 3-yr warratny (which I think is really good), but the powerstream PSU's have a 5-yr warranty.

These rebates seem to come back about every month. That being said, this seems to be a really good deal. I'm shopping for a PSU for my HTPC and am torn between the modstream 450W and the Seasonic S12-380. Both are around the same price. I hear the OCZ's are farily quiet, which is a plus.

I just bought the 520w unit with a $15 rebate last week and they are now offering a $20 rebate now. That bites bump. 🙁
