OCZ Agility4 not showing up

Was in mid game, when suddenly colorful lines crossed the screen and everything froze. Pressed reset, and after that No boot device found error.
Checked bios and the SSD was no longer there. Took it out of the case and attached to external drive bay, nothing. Led comes up, but no activity, drive faintly blinks into "Computer" and then dies off. Only thing i can hear, is faint buzzing from the drive, like coil whine.
Anyway to reviev it, had some files on it?

You can try it in another machine...
If it don't show up in BIOS, not much you can do.

How long have you had the drive? The drive came with a 3-year warranty.

When you talk to them (OCZ/Toshiba), ask them what they can do about data recovery.

Other machines, dont see it either.
Over 3 years, it came as OEM drive.
I contacted them via homepage, got directed to another company, cause they dont deal with data recovery. But they havent responded yet.
Thought there might be a way to revive it even for 10min or so, just that i could get my stuff off it and then it can be as dead as it wants to be.

Well, the freezer trick might work if these were a hard drive, but since there are no moving parts, there isn't much that can be done AFAIK.

That seems to be the way SSDs fail - suddenly and without warning. Agree with Ketchup79's last. BTW - if prudent backup is done, then data recovery is not needed.

Odds are warranty has lapsed. Looks like time for a new drive.

Every ssd I've had let go did so without any warning regardless of manufacturer.

I wonder if any SSD maker will ever put in a 'dual bios' type of thing, so, when it does panic lock, the consumer can just flip a switch, and the SSD would reboot itself.

Skylamon, since it is out of warranty, you could take it apart, and see if anything is burnt on the SSD. If not, then most recovery places might be able to unlock it from its panic state, or they can do transplants of the NAND (as a last resort), but, that is hugely expensive.

post a high resolution picture of both sides of the SSD inside the enclosure. If it is a sandforce controller, you are probably screwed...otherwise I may be able to help.

Took it apart to get the pictures, didnt see any burn marks or discoloration.
So far i have contacted one recovery place and they said flat fee of 500 € and data recovery success rate is 80% which will then determin the full price of the recovery.

Thanks for the pictures...unfortunately, the one chip that we need to read is the one covered with the white sticker. Are you able to post the details written on this chip?

Where are you situated? I may be able to recommend a trusted lab in your region.
