Does anyone know if the recent drops in SSD prices is a temporary thing? Is there just a lot of surplus RAM lying around these days?
 
it's a deliberate price war started by the major SSD makers (OCZ, Intel, Kingston, etc) to squeeze out the smaller ones (Verbatim, Patriot, etc) so they can dominate the market, and supposedly improve the quality of SSD (they claim that there are too many small fish putting out shoddy SSD's that muddy the pond and turn potential customers away from switching to SSD's). So there may or may not be surplus NAND's, but the price war is real, and will probably continue until the small fish go belly up.
