interviews and commercial endorsements to help pay the costs of raising the children, the Times of London reported.

Nadya Suleman, 33, plans a career as a television childcare expert. It was learned last week that she already had six children before giving birth to eight more. She now has 14 children younger than 8 years old.

Although still confined to a Los Angeles hospital bed, Suleman reportedly intends to talk to two influential television hosts this week ? media mogul Oprah Winfrey and Diane Sawyer.

Her family has told agents she needs cash from media deals.

Suleman is being deluged with offers for book deals, TV shows and other business proposals, but according to her publicist she hasn't decided what she might do once she leaves the hospital.

On Friday she retained the Killeen Furtney Group public relations firm to handle what company President Joann Killeen says are hundreds of offers arriving daily. They include requests for paid interviews, TV show appearances, book deals and other opportunities

Killeen says Suleman is "the most sought after mom in the world right now," but she hasn't decided what she'll do next, other than care for her children.

But Suleman's earning power could be diminished by the growing ethical and medical controversies surrounding her octuplets' birth. Experts believe that the unnamed fertility specialists who gave her in vitro fertilization (IVF) should not have implanted so many embryos, and in choosing to carry all eight to term, Suleman ignored guidelines, risking both the babies' health and her own.

Public reaction has been mixed: Many have asked how an unemployed single mother can raise 14 children, as her first six have already strained the family budget. Angela and Ed Suleman, Nadya?s parents, bought her a two-bedroom bungalow in the Los Angeles suburb of Whittier in March 2007, but soon fell on hard times and had to leave their own home.

guess we werent to far off on the idea that she wants her own show. this is really sick.

Who is she?

Fuck her, and fuck people who give a damn about her.

I don't know much about this story, but my taxes better not be paying for anything of hers.

I hate her.

ask your people
ask your people what is right,
ask your people
ask your people what is right,

we don't need to multiply,
we don't need to multiply,
we don't need to multiply,
we don't need to multiply,

no need to multiply,
no need to multiply,
no need to multiply,
we don't need to multiply.

this is one of the most disgusting stories i have read in a while. She should have her children taken from her and sent to prison honestly. This is sick.

I wonder if she can provide a clean, healthy and nourishing environment for 14 children with her known resources in that now rather small home. Will the department of child welfare check into this perhaps?

She really does seem like a horrible person. It's a little odd that her mother has come out of the woodwork to criticize her, but when a single mom with six kids goes way out of her way to have eight more, it's impossible not to question her motivations.

the gov needs to investigate how she can be both on welfare and afford to pay for 8 fucking embryo injections.

From what I've read, this woman has some serious mental problems.

EPIC FAIL.

LOL yeah that jumped out at me also.

I remember this girl my nephew was dating. Her head was full of daydreams of being a doctor or a lawyer and she had all the drive and conviction that one day of interest would give her. By the next day, she was back to her usual unmotived, lazyass self.

She never even finished highschool and had 3 kids with 3 different guys. She even joined the Army and within a month was trying to get out.

You'd hope that as a matter of medical ethics, the fertility docs wold take a long hard look at whether she was fit to have yet more kids.

Is that what she did? They confirmed that?

Isn't it just one injection? I believe In Vitro Fertilization usually has a doctor inject multiple embryos into the uterus hoping for one to take. That's why the article mentions how the doctors injected eight, which is uncommonly high. I don't know what the usual amount is as this is by far not my area of expertise.

She had 6 kids before having the 8?

I mean, I realize octuplets is kinda a freak thing, but what the fuck? Close your legs.

^ the goal of IVF is to have 1 fetus develop (as many result in no babies at all) but obviously they throw in more to increase the odds. I would believe it's just 1 injection, 1 payment.

I really want to know if this was what she went through though.

I think the fertility clinic that authorized such an ethically improper injection of 8 embryos, and further allowing her to carry them all to term, are as equally at fault.

We're going to reach a point where people need to pass a mental acuity and personal responsibility exam before being allowed IVF or any type of fertility treatment.

I'm all for fertility treatments, but we shouldn't forget that in a large way, people tend to be sterile for a reason. Whether it be mental deficiencies or other biological/morphological issues, there tend to be necessary genetic checks to insure that otherwise damaging genes aren't passed along. Don't interpret this as an argument for eugenics or legally enforced sterilization--far from it. We need to pay more mind to the biological ques our bodies, and the evolutionary history that our genome carries with it.

yes, one injection and several are injected at once to increase chances of gestation. In this case more than the norm were injected, and in most cases the common practice is to not allow all of them to come to term in the event that several become viable.

Something is clearly wrong in this case, as the clinicians allowed all of these embryos to progress to term.
