OCR scanning

I have a microtech scanner which doesn't seem to have OCR software, but not sure. It will allow me to scan to OCR, but I don't have a program that will open it up? I have Office XP and Adobe Creative suite.

When I scan an image to OCR in my scanner, I have tried to open it using Word, but it is just jumbled symbols..?

What I want to do is Scan a legal document that has underlined blank spaces to fill in. I usually have to use a type writter to fill in the blanks for the court. I want to be able to just scan the document, and be able to type in the required text in the blank underlined spaces.

What am I doing wrong, or what program do I need?

Any help would be much appreciated.

TIA

Trying to OCR a page into Word (any version) is an act in frustration,
but can be done with some effort.

Probably the best at converting documents to edocs is Abby FineReader OCR, which
generally was\is included with all MICROTEK Scanners.
But even the best OCR programs will require you to Edit and Tweak.
