OC'ing PII 266, don't laugh!

Hey all, I have my PII 266 oc'ed to 300, but I want it to go a little faster, but the board sony put in my old computer is limited to 4.5 multiplier and 66mhz fsb. I want to get a cheap board that I could drop this on and get it to go faster. I am planning on giving the computer to a friend for sound editing.

 
First off, it probably won't go much higher... See if you can find a used Asus P2B, I've been pretty happy with the one I use to run a PII 400 @ 412.
 
I had a PII 266 that would not go past 312MHz, so you might be going to a lot of effort and expense just to get an unnoticeable performance improvement. Stick with what you have.
 
I have a 233 that runs 350 at stock voltage. It will boot into windows at 400 but locks up, but I think with a good hsf and some voltage it would do 400 stable.
 
ok just use your sense: that chip probably isn't worth more than $60 new. you may not get 400 out of it. 300-400 is probably not worth buying a better heatsink for. your pal will appreciate more memory for his chosen app.
