OCing on FIC AZ11 motherboard?

Anyone had any success OCing on an FIC SD11 motherboard?
Is it as simple as connecting the L1 pins and using the Novus overclocking software to change the multiplyer? Does that software that comes with the board even work?

I have a Thunderbird 850...

Thanks!

You will have to be prepared to do some work on the AZ11 mobo to get it to OC. If I recall, Tomshardware had an article on adding the required chip and jumpers to the AZ11. Some site was selling pre-modded AZ11 mobos. Maybe if you search the net you can still find the info. Anand had a very early article on modding the AZ11 but it was not complete. AFAIK the Novus software allows slight FSB overclocking and thats all.

I thought the AZ11 mods were for before the L1 pencil lead trick was learned. Why the hell would FIC give you overclocking software that they KNEW would not work?

I haven't found one either. And why does included software not work with NT/Win2k? Do they think everyone is going to be using Win9x only?

Ok, a little history. The original BIRDS and DURONS had the L1 bridges intact. Mobo makers, including FIC designed their mobos to allow for overclocking. AMD then started blowing the L1 bridges and FIC left off the hardware required to change the multiplier. Note that all mobos require that the L1 bridges be connected to overclock, unless you manually reconfigure the L2,L3 and L6 bridges.

If I recall, you had to solder several sets of jumper pins to the AZ11 mobo, its been a while. Tom may only have had an article on adding the required IC to the A7V on mobos that didn't support OC, memory gets a little vague.

Golly. If only I knew if I was wasting my time and potentialy damaging my processor by closing the L1 connections. If I have to make serious motherboard mods then I'm not interested in OCing.
