OCing newbie in need of direction

Athlon XP 3000+
A7N8X-X motherboard (BIOS rev 1011)
2x512 Corsair VS PC3200 RAM
Thermalright 947U heatsink w/ 92mm Tornado on top (~5000 RPM)

First time CPU OC here (obviously). Finally started fiddling with things since I got the heatsink installed yesterday.

Anyway, I've got this thing up to 2435.5 MHz right now, with it failing Prime95 after 10-15 minutes.

BIOS settings are as follows:
CPU External Frequency: 220
CPU External Frequency Multple 11.0x
Memory Frequency: By SPD
9-4-4-3T on the RAM (BIOS default)
VCore I've bumped from 1.65V to 1.7V
DDR voltage is unchanged at 2.6V

Temp is staying pretty consistently in the 50C range (+/- 2C). I should be able to get more out of this thing, shouldn't I? What do I need to do next? More voltage? RAM timings?

Definately not looking to fry anything, but I'd like to get some more out of this rig.

IMHO you need to back off in this situation. You've already bumped up the voltage to 1.7 -- anything above that is a serious risk of permanent damage. Failing Prime95 in that short a time is a red flag that your CPU is not cut out for that speed.

I guess that may be the case. 🙁

It has been previously suggested that I may have a bad diode on this CPU too. It used to sit at somewheres around 65C/60C load/idle with my old heatsink no matter what I did to it.

Maybe I got a bad CPU 🙁

o well....
