Heya guys,

I am trying to push my q9450 past 3.2 ghz...it doesnt seem to be stable after 3.2.
My stable OC is listed in my sig. At the present moment i am @

3.46ghz(fsb:1728) vCore:1.325v VTT:1.3v SPP:1.45 MCP:1.5v SPP<->MCP: 1.2v GTLRef lane 0: Auto
lane 1:+55mV
lane 2: auto
Lane 3: auto

My RAM is in sync mode(1:1) @432.5 5-5-5-13 tRC:21 2t

Any help would be great thanks!

I have read the sticky more than once...either i am not doing something right or i just have a bad chip and 3.2ghz is going to be my max OC unless i decide to upgrade to a 790i and use ddr3. I was hoping to get a little more in depth help instead of someone posting a thread that a retard couldn't miss. I see you have your q9450 @ 3.2, is that the max it would go or is that what you run it at 24/7? Also it seemed like when i did make the GTLREf lane adjustment to lane #1 it made the cpu more stable...but it would still crash.

you got your 9450@3.2 and just 1.275v ? mine today quit working at this freq :( and it was 1.325v !
it froze ubuntu (running fah), and couldn't even boot windows xp, got 5 secs in FreeBSD and ubuntu also.

it is in stock now, till I find out what to do with it.

I have regular ddr800 kingston and gigabyte EP35C-DS3R. Also using Coolermaster TX2 (I didn't like it, I thought it'd run cooler)

in ubuntu, the lm-sensors told me something around 55~60. bios said the same thing, as just yesterday it beeped (the 60° limit). coretemp in windows always said to be more ...

I'm now at stock, and lm-sensors said when I left home to work to be at 36º.

one thing os true, my bedroom is not the coldest places in earth :D

I'm running my Q9450 on a water cooldd Asus striker II extreme with 4 GIG of DDR3-1600 with no problems at 1.325v with memory @ 1600 and CPU @ 3600. Most of my settings probably wouldn't help you as I am running DDR3 which im running unsynced at 9:8 ratio.

In my particular system to have my memory work at this speed I have to raise the memory volts to 1.86v which means that bios will set it to 1.9 which is required for the extra speed, I haven't checked your particular memory so please don't flame my head off but is 2.1v its limit?

If you can put your memory to 1T believe it or not its about 7% faster and in 2T mode your memory can cause contention on the memory controller due to interleaved access.
This particular timing is very badly named commands per clock, it might be more useful to call it command per clock delay.

if I may, @3.6, what kind of work you give to the cpu at this freq ?
my quad was (and is now at stock freq) under folding at home 24/7.
at full load, what's the temps ? and the environment temp ?

thanks,

matheus

At the moment Im in the low - mid 60s c under prime 95 I think its version 25.2, the room held at 22 c for testing, bare in mind that this is without any cooling on my radiators. Within the next week I will be fitting my fans I had to build a special cable to carry my 3 aux fan headers from one box to another as I have put my rads and pumps in another case.
Also I have not yet tried to lower the cpu volts yet as the 1.325 I mentioned is the Auto selection in bios. My system 3dmark 06 score is 19591.

I found it v high though, I'm running at 1,3875v in Bios for the cpu and I'm getting high sixties under prime with air cooling, ambient 24c. Also the vcore seems low for the Fsb you have, it makes me think all the voltages are on auto. It seems that the mb keeps the cpu voltage low on auto but raises all the other, like the NB voltage. I did this before and I got 456 FSB with 1,34v set by the mb and the NB was set to 1,6v which seems quite high.

If you have them on auto try setting them manually and you'll see. Also the 3dmark is strange. I don't know what card(s) you have but with the rig in my sig and a shitty ram I'm getting 20565-20700( with 456 FSB)(XP).

Shined and Drivenbyvoltage, are you reading temps from where ? coretemp (in windows?)

I read through lm-sensors that i really think is not getting data from internal diodes. so I think it may be more. now @2.92 (fsb @366) it is reading 47°. bios read from diodes ? I think not as it is quite the same as lm-sensors. just once it beeped from the 60° bios limit.

I don't have something like coretemp for ubuntu :(

I wasn't comfortable running my CPU up to 1.3+ volts 24/7

Even with lots of vdroop I needed somewhere around 1.29v under load to get 3.8Ghz. That was about 1.36v set in BIOS. Not acceptable for me.
