OCing killed my keyboard and wireless!

I put together a new (updated) system a bit ago and had some strangeness when I overclocked.

When I overclocked a bit and stress-tested, my wireless (via USB nugget) would flake out. Then it stopped altogether. Then my keyboard started acting up. Now, when I boot up, I have to unplug my keyboard and plug it in only after Vista has hit the login screen or else it will blue-screen as soon as I press a key. Also, the mouse pad built into my keyboard stopped working completely.

So, the only thing I can think of is that the 5V rail on the supply got unstable under load and damaged my connected USB devices. Does that make sense? I thought this supply would be more than enough power and good quality too.

For stress-testing, I ran 4 threads of super pi and played Supreme Commander at the same time. It would actually run pretty well. I was overclocking to about 3.1GHz.

Sounds like you may have a bad USB controller to me. Try the mouse and keyboard on another comp?

I tried the wireless dongle and it would not start up on my laptop at all. My mouse never had a problem and neither have my flash drives or printer, though the printer wasn't connected when I was overclocking.

And what about the keyboard. Does that work on another PC?

I have moved between multiple ports with no success and like I said my wireless module doesn't work on my laptop either.

Stay away from Gigabyte next time, they are power hogs and in the case you bought a lemon board, they have a nasty habit to "electrocute" the devices and peripherals due to faulty electricals, just like your situation. I had 3 boards from GB that they exhibited strange problems due to faulty power/electrical regulators. All replaced with another brand, happy ever since.

sounds like an isolated case. i have 2 EP45-UD3P boards and i havent had any of these problems of which you speak. as far as being power "hogs", how did you come to this conclusion?
