OC'ing for Doom 3

You're probably going to be graphics card limited, so it won't help a lot. Might as well do it anyway though, ya know. Peace.

Yeah, I kinda doubt anything you do to your CPU will help much. Your graphics card is definitely your Doom3 weak spot.

Check Anandtech's Doom3 CPU article:
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuch...oc.aspx?i=2149&p=1

Of particular interest in that article is the fact that as graphics is more demanding, CPU is less important, and that at 1280 x 1024 the difference between a P4 2.8C and a P4 3.2C is 3FPS. But at the same resolution the difference between a 9800 Pro and a 6800 Ultra is just under 30 FPS.

So you may get something out of overclocking your CPU, but not much. Not much at all.

I've been playing the demo to see if it was playable on my comp. At 800X600 med res (with vsync on) the console code that turns on the fps counter goes anywhere from around 60 down to around 20. I was hoping the was a way to keep it from dropping so low. There have been quite a few spots in the game the I didn't catch the fps number but the on screen action was very slow.

Have you d/l'd the Humus Tweak yet. If not give it try. Helped me quite a bit.
