This thing isn't too shabby! I just OC'd to 3.0 ghz and I am getting 27 @ idle and 35-37@ full long term load. Totally stable, not one problem so far.

I'm going to try and go for 3.2 stable just by increasing the clock multiplier (still at stock voltage, etc. right now)

I'm thinking if I keep it at 45 or under at full load, The processor should last quite a while

I just tried 16 multiplier for 3.2 ghz and I barely got windows to post. I think once you go to 3.2ghz on these chips you HAVE to start increasing the Vcore in order to obtain stability.

Which, to be honest, isn't bad at all. The overclocking review from Toms Hardware is mirroring very closely to my results with this chip.

I think once my PC starts getting slower in a year or so, I'm going to start bumping up the VCORE to get faster, but for now, I'm cool with 3 ghz.

My video card (7900gs) is more of a bottleneck then anything else at this point =)

This is definitly a good deal if you can find it for $99.00

AFAIK that's regular price now at Newegg. It becomes a good deal when you get the $5 off coupon code in your email newsletter, as happened last week. ;)

At 3.2ghz you should be laying waste to phenoms in dual threaded or single threaded apps....right?

Same results here ... 3.2 was about the limit. I'm running this on an old ASrock SATAII board with a 275fsb and unless I voltmod the AM2CPU card I don't think I will see 3.4 with the 5000+. Temps sitting at 28-29c with moderate activity. Helluva nice upgrade for that board tho.
We get at least one thread a week with guys looking for an upgrade path from their S939 boards, and I just grin and smile at my smart decision back in '06 to buy this board. I managed to get my 3dmark06 score from a bit under 4500 to 9126 with the upgrades I had done, and that is within a stone's throw of my main rig, an e6600@3.2 with an 8800GTS card.

I know exactly what you mean, WT. I'm jealous. :(

But nevermind, tomorrow I'll have a new X2 3800 sitting here. :D That will pour some life back into my computer... with a proper overclock, of course!

I love my DSII!!! I just added the 500be to the upgrade board this weekend and am getting 3.0 stable....3.2 was a no go for me

meh, i'm probably one of the only people who recently purchased an AM2 motherboard and CPU Combo.

$$ always comes first for me, I just didn't have the cash to bump up to a very good Intel system (Q6600 was what I was looking at as an alternative)

Now that I easily got 3.0ghz with the AMD CPU, I'm very happy with it.

I might try messing around with the settings a little bit again to see If I can hit that 3.2ghz

3100mhz is a little flaky for me on stock volts, I just run at 3ghz stock volts and I'm good to go.
