OC'ing and Ram Error

k, i'm a novice at OC'ing, but i'm quick to learn. i'm tryin to get 200x10, but when i go that high, i error out and need to reset bois, but i'm stable at 166x11. i don't get cpu error like i think i would, but rather memory error. "System fail due to memory error" or something to that effect. when i try for the 200x10, i leave the memory speed at "spd", the defualt setting for the ram speed. should i sync or do a certian speed? i haven't tried stepping up from 166 to see how far i can get, i'll do that tommorrow. just wondering about the ram error, kinda caught me off guard, and just curious if anybody knows.

Mobo: a7n8x deluxe (not sure if deluxe is relavent or not)
CPU: 1700+ tbred a (not sure if a or b, but assume a)
Ram: Corsair XMS pc2700
CAS: 2-2-2-5

aite, played 'round a lil more. tried getting FSB's of even 170 but no go, same error. "Failure due to system memory" blah blah blah. tried sync'ing the ram to 170, nope. left cpu at factory status, 133x11 and OC ram too 120% (200MHz), no go, system failure. i'm starting to think something's up with my ram, can't even OC 166MHz ram to 200MHz? and anytime i try to go over FSB of 166MHz, the ram fails, what gives, anyboyd? 😕

relax timings, raise vdimm
if it doesnt do the trick the ram will not oc that much

//edit
im tired and all....but 133fsb * 120% ram =200mhz ram??
😕

oh, no, sorry, i must not have made it clear, i tried OC'ing the ram by 120%. the ram is pc2700 or 166, so 166x120%=200mhz. in my bois, it only lets me OC the ram speed by either sync or by %'s.

Nope, its "Memory Frequancy", as in the ram's frequancy which is 166MHz, thus * by 120, equals 200MHz. 🙂 is this odd, to just go by %'s? also, 120% is the lowest percent i can OC the ram's frequancy too. :-/
