Oc'ing a notebook

foges

Senior member
Im gonna buy a notebook. probably the
ACER Aspire 1522LCi, Athlon 64 3000+, 512MB 60GB, CD-RW/DVD, WLAN, XGA, GeForceFX Go5700 64MB

Now i was just wondering if there was any possibility of overclocking it a mhz or two. or would that just be stupid?

thanx

Its the same trick you could use on pentium 3's and 4's. Intel use a bsel pin to determine bus speed. By forcing the motherboard to accept that 533mhz is the correct FSB it will boot See this thread 1.6 dothan's are the best for this although 1.5banias can also manage it.

As for heat its currently using less than standard vcore (1.2 vs 1.34) so it should be using less power. It idles around 38c and hits mid 60's when gaming.

nice, i they only got nywhere close to that on notebooks. still need to find out how to overclock a laptop.
