When you start to smell smoke, it's time to back off. ;)

Seriously, I have to ask why you need to o/c that card. It's a monster right out of the box as are all GT's.
Why. And please don't tell us it's to get a better 3dMark03 score.

no,ive never even used 3dMark03. It's to get maximum performence in Dom 3, UT2K4, etcetera (etc.)

unless ya got a high performance CPU the rusults on the GPU will be marginable.....

lets say 400 1100 for the GT OC Average however the Vram is prolly the limiting factor...

My bfg 6800gt oc played doom3 fine at 410/1130, but I i had to back the core down to 390 for the moh:pa demo and 1090 on the memory for one shader in halo. However, every card unique and has it's own limits.

I'm able to play d3 at 16x12 with my bfg gt at stock. unless o/c would allow you to turn on aa or af, I'd not bother.

It doesn't, but your CPU can bottleneck your video performance so overclocking your card won't make any difference at all.

he said he should be able to overclock far becoase of his cpu and ram, so I want to know why he says that.
