OCed memory benchmarking question

i have heard that Sandra 2000 isnt very accurate and has quite a few bugs when it comes to detecting memory type, speed, and usage. are there any other programs out there that will give me accurate readings of the above specs? and if so, where can i find them? when i OC my FSB over 150 mHz and supply the right voltage, my system boots with no errors and rund rock solid. i have PC133 rev3 which theoretically can OC to such speeds, but i would like a program that can prove to me that my memory is indeed running @ 150+ mHz.

If your fsb is at 150 ram is also at 150 unless you have a via chipset then it can be +/-33 but this you have to set manually.

yeah i suppose the holds true whether i'm seeing proof or not...i wish the i815 chipset had a +/- 33 mHz DRAM setting:)

The i815 does have a +/-PCI option. Just like the VIA133 chipset, it is able to set the memory at +PCI when the PCI divider is set to 1/2 or 1/3. It is also able to set the memory to -PCI when the PCI divider is at 1/4. It's not possible to use a +PCI option with the 1/4 divider though. The same hold true for the new KT133A and the KT133 chipset, so those hoping for a +PCI option with a 133MHz bus speed are out of luck.

i didnt know that about my own chipset:) i'll have to go into BIOS and look for that. thanks for the info Adam...i'll be back if i cant figure it out.

ok i'm back. i cant find the 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 PCI dividers, much less find the option to run the memory bus + or - the PCI bus. where is it? i have the CUSL2 w/ BIOS v1003 final. help!

A lot of i815 motherboards automatically set the PCI dividers. For the CUSL2, it automatically sets the PCI divider to 1/4 after 120MHz. As for the +/- PCI memory clock, a lot of i815 motherboards make it easy by having a selection that lets you choose 100 or 133. If your running a 100MHz FSB CPU and are under 120MHz FSB, setting it to 133 gives you the +PCI option if your over 120MHz FSB and select the 100MHz memory, it gives you the -PCI option. For example, if your at 120MHz FSB and select the 100MHz memory option, the memory would only be running at 120-(120/4)=90MHz. If you select the 133MHz memory option when at 120MHz+ FSB, the memory speed would be synchronous with the FSB (in this case 120MHz memory speed). Another example would be running at 112MHz FSB. If your running at 112MHz FSB and select the 133MHz memory option this would be the same as the +PCI option. So, 112/3=37.334MHz, 112+37.334=149.334MHz. I hope I didn't confuse you.

well that was quite a bit confusing, but i think i understand. i do realize that the CUSL2 automatically sets the PCI bus to 1/4 FSB. but i dont think there is a setting on the CUSL2 that allows for a 1/3 or 1/2 PCI divider...at least i cant find it. the FSB/DRAM/PCI ratios to select from are as follows:

1) 66/100/33
2) 100/100/33
3) 133/133/33
4) 133/100/33

the PCI dividers on all four options are automatically set to a 1/4 divider, and i dont think this can be changed on the CUSL2. if there is a way please let me know. eliminate the first option b/c i would never use it (i have a Pentium, not a Celeron). in options 2 and 3, the memory is synchronous w/ the FSB. in option 4 the memory bus is set to 3/4 FSB. i havent noticed that the PCI bus is automatically set to a 1/4 divider after 120 mHz FSB like you said. i would have to go into BIOS and look at it to see what divider it would default to b4 reaching 120 mHz FSB. though i can clearly see that with the first option, the PCI bus has a 1/2 divider (66 mHz FSB x 1/2 = 33 mHz FSB). i'm starting to think that i am stuck @ a limit of 1085 mHz...and as if that werent my only problem, i tried booting @ 1085 mHz again today and it wouldnt boot. my system would hang. the highest i could go today was 1071 mHz. 154 x 7.0 = 1078 and 155 x 7.0 = 1085 wouldnt boot.

The PCi Divider is automatic on the CUSL2.

For group 1, its 1/2
For group 2, its 1/3

for groups 3 and 4, its 1/4
