If they were truly wealthy, they'd own the company & more like it.

Upper middle class? Privileged class? OK. Wealthy? No. The gulf between the truly wealthy and the upper middle class is now enormous, greater than it's been at any time since the 1920's.

Wealthy people don't depend on jobs to pay the overhead of their lavish lifestyles- they depend on ownership, on investment.

I don't think you understand the type of arrangement I'm describing. :| Who owns AT&T and IBM?

I understand it. Lets just say that if they were wealthy, they'd have large, diversified stock & bond portfolios with other holdings such as franchises & rent generating real estate valued at tens of millions of dollars or more. They'd work because they want to, not because they depend on the income.

That's exactly the kind of people I'm talking about. School friends that I grew up in the bubble with. Often corporations purchase their executives' homes for them and allow them to pay back only a certain percentage of the total cost, interest free.

And they work to get more, it's a competition. Some people want to run the fastest, some people want to amass the most wealth, everyone's motivated by something different.

So they don't really have mortgages, do they?

Misunderstanding? They make payments, they don't have mortgages.

Yes, misunderstanding. I wasn't as precise as I should have been. The people you reference receive housing essentially as an executive fringe benefit, make partial payment as many of the rest of us do wrt monthly health insurance deductions. It's a tax angle thing.

Spidey's payments aren't like that.

Listening to the non-partisan news talk radio in Chicago this morning (WGN) morning host ( http://www.wgnradio.com/shows/mikemcconnell/ for you partisans) was saying how he went and talked to many of the Occupy Chicago protestors, and one thing that he said was common amongst a large percentage of protestors, was a strong devotion to Rachel Maddow.

Now, got me thinking, just look at this forum, and how many accusations get thrown around about being drones of Fox News and conservative talk radio - wonder where they get those ideas from... 😉

You need to listen to the protesters, they think this is their "arab spring". Go do yourself a favor and google communist revolutions, how they start, the reasoning behind it and look at the motives of the folks supporting this.

Why are the Nazi party, the communist party supporing the protesters? Could it be because they wish them to succeed and believers in the cause?

Careful who you make friends with liberals, your true beliefs are being shown and to that I say - Please Keep It Up. Please.

Oh shit, they are COMMIE hippies??? This changes my entire view on supporting their first amendment rights, not supporting the violation of their rights, along with supporting the rule of law be enforced equally (specifically, it should also apply to certain members of the 1% that recently it has not).

I am forced to join you to defend our great nation from these COMMIE hippies.

It is time.

Interesting; I didn't get much of a Maddow vibe from the protestors at Zucchati park, but to be fair I didn't actually ask them...

I am really curious if I covertly slid a copy of Das Kapital (by Marx) into Spideys pocket if he would melt like the wicked witch of the west?

OH NO SPIDEY....IT'S THE EVIL KARL MARX AND HIS ECONOMIC BOOKS OF CONSERVATIVE KRYPTONITE!

Marx2.jpg

With one blast of Karl Marx's commie red laser eye beams he could topple the Foxnews Headquarters at a whim! With his EMP photon torpedos of rather dry economic books he could jam all talk radio frequencies with a mere thought and gesture!

So much fear, so little rationality.

If people actually cracked one of his books you could see demons will not fly out.

Marx basically wrote about the need of anti-trust laws, with a small bit of economics philosophy.

Occupy Veterans Movement Growing Across U.S.

Since Occupy Wall Street protests have broken out in cities across the U.S. and abroad, support has come from what might seem like an unlikely corner: war veterans.

But two of the highest-profile protesters -- each from opposite ends of the country -- had served in wars.

OccupyMarines recently posted on its Facebook page advice about how to protest in winter weather. According to a Tweet by @Kruggurl, Occupy Marine Corps has offered protesters supplies for the winter.

"We are a collection of prior service Marines intent on protecting American citizens and their ability to exercise their First Amendment rights," a spokesperson for the group said.

erm, so because some veterans support OWS, all veterans and the whole military supports it?

serious post.

I cannot understand what occupyDenmark is protesting, I simply don't get it, well ok I kinda get it since the only people protesting are the same old hippies from Christiania that will protest anything and everything. I just can't see anything legit to protest.

Of course. Haven't you read the thread? A couple of OWS protestors have been accused of rape, therefore they're all rapists. Some have become violent, so all of them are violent. And so on, ad absurdum.

Oh, some have expensive computers, thus invalidating the comments by ones that do not about financial inequality and problems.

It is the ultimate cherry-picking type casting that makes this country great!

Serious question: Anyone heard of the OWS movement putting forth a candidate at the state and/or federal level?

Ron Paul will end up getting their endorsement if they want to be able to control their destiny without the interference of government money manipulation and government cooperation with banksters.

If all they want is a handout and an xbox 360, they may have to look elsewhere.

And why shouldn't a couple bad apples reflect on the whole? How many times has this photo been posted just on this forum alone as representative of the whole Tea Party?

Here's the voice of Occupy Wall Street. Quite a movement you've got going there.

Don't know how many times but since it's from 2003 and a pro-war rally, not sure that it has been used for that (but I may have missed the threads).
