JSt0rm, I don't do blue collar work any longer. I haven't in almost 3 years. I did it for the majority of my late teens and early 20s. I was what is known as a skilled laborer, part of the Millwrights Union for about 3 years, the rest I did construction work at the same level as an illegal would(in fact I worked along side quite a few). None of this work is leaving, people just don't want to do it. There's a skilled labor shortage and it is not hard to become a skilled laborer. It doesn't even take a year to learn how to weld somewhat decent. These are also well paying jobs, minus the mindless construction work I did which still paid better than working at McDonalds.

Again, I'm not saying things couldn't change for a better, I'm just saying there seems to be a lot of bitching, moaning and inaction. I do not listen to those who bitch and moan while never actually trying to correct their situation. Waah. What kind of weak individual lets such a thing as a corporation or government or anyone or anything stop them from leading a happy life? The real shit hasn't hit the fan yet JSt0rm because the real revolutionaries haven't come out to play yet.

I understand and agree. However, I am as well prepared as I can be for that eventuality as well -- as are the vast majority of my closest middle-class friends.

It is even worse when you consider the people taking on this debt generally have no clue what the "real world" is like. As I said earlier, I don't think they should be able to get out of the debt without consequences but I don't think a person should be fucked for life because of a bad decision made a decade ago. Even our framers realized the importance of some sort of bankruptcy.

the reason student loans cant be discharged in bankruptcy is because in the past every college grad with loans with go bankrupt the second they finished school.

I sure would have if I had the option. Whats a few years of no credit for tens of thosands of dollars.

The no bankruptcy for student loans IMHO is to harash right now. But there are reasons for them.

Saw that crap in WI this year it was almost comical... protesters stand around waiting for news crews they show up for 15/20 min to get their footage and the protest was on big time. News crew had the film and left, protest was over..... dam joke but it made the news🙄

Jon Stewart is a comedian, Mkay? The fact that his schtick puts some righties into raving fits of denial says a lot about the nature of their headsets.

Don't you think it funny that Jon Stewart is linked by a big supporter of OWS in a thread about OWS when he's an employee of a major media corporation and makes $15,000,000 a year? Not even a little funny?

Because Jon Stewart has never looked flustered on his show about a subject... Please. You sound like a tool defending the word of a stranger against another stranger as such. Why can't he think they're both idiots?

Answer this question honestly:

If your child was hours away from starving to death, literally on her/his death bed, and I had a shotgun slung across my chest and pushing a basket full of food down the street would you shoot me in the back of the head to feed your child?

If you answer no then you are either a liar, don't have children, or haven't fully considered the situation.

There has never in the history of man been a better motivator then hunger. It can simultaneously get the absolute best out of people and the absolute worst. To make matters worse, it is sort of hard for you to make a living while 1/3 of the population is desperately hungry. Eventually you end up in the exact same group that you have "well prepared" for.

As I said earlier, hungry and desperate people are very bad for a civilized society. Matter of fact when a large portion of society is hungry and desperate that pretty much means that your society is no longer civilized (at least for long). Is that what you want to leave behind to your children?

No more funny then when the Rupert Murdoch hacking scandal story was active the Fox News opinion talking heads avoided the story and admitted so during a commercial break.

Yeah, he wants to be taken as a serious political commentator, but after he says something egregiously stupid he falls back on the "i'm an entertainer, a comedian" excuse to slither out of criticism.
